Michigan officially finalized Sherrone Moore's contract on Monday after nine months, capping off a rollercoaster year for Wolverines fans. They saw their favorite team win a national championship in 2023 with an unbeaten 15-0 record but did not get to enjoy the victory for long, as long-time coach Jim Harbaugh left Michigan to sign with the LA Chargers.

While Sherrone Moore has already been working with the team this season under a memorandum of understanding, some fans reacted negatively to the signing:

"Don't worry he'll be fired after the season," a fan commented.
"Michigan is about to be hurting for a while. I have zero faith in Moore. Michigan fans will be calling for him to be removed, mark my words," another fan wrote.
"Hopefully it's a 1 year contract," a fan added.

After a 30-10 win against the Fresno State Bulldogs in Week 1 on Sept. 1, Michigan suffered a big 31-12 loss to Texas in Week 2 at home on Saturday, so many fans found it odd that the team announced Sherrone Moore's extension right after that performance.

"Comedic timing after biggest loss in years. Sherrone was waving the contract after signing it to make sure the ink dried fast enough. Well done Michigan," a fan commented.
"This makes no sense to me as to why they didn't do this before, because there's no shot they saw anything last weekend that moved the needle for them to get this done," a fan wrote.
"Honestly Michigan should've taken this chance to pull out. That was a nasty coaching job against Texas, they looked pathetic," a fan added.

Sherrone Moore served as the acting coach for Michigan for one game in 2023 during Jim Harbaugh's suspension and in the first two games this year.

Sherrone Moore on signing his full contract

According to ESPN, the framework for his contract was decided in January. His deal is for five years, with $5 million compensation over a $500,000 base salary.

"I am excited to have this full contract completed," Moore said. "Their support for our team is greatly appreciated and all three of us are aligned in our goals for this football program." [H/T ESPN]

The Michigan Wolverines (1-1) will face Arkansas State (2-0) in Week 3 on Saturday at home.
