Cam Newton responded to a fan's question on whether the 2005 Texas Longhorns were better than the 2010 Auburn Tigers. The retired quarterback played for the Tigers during his senior year in 2010, before entering the 2011 NFL draft.
On Thursday's episode of the "4th & 1 with Cam Newton" show, he shared that he picks Texas, which was led by Vince Young, over his former team. The former NFL star believes that the 2005 Longhorns were more talented than the 2010 Tigers roster.
"I like me," Newton said (1:05:34). "I love me, but just, they had a lot of firepower."

In the 2005 season, Young led his team to a 13-0 (8-0 Big 12) record and was among the best players in the league. He finished his junior year with 212 completed passes for 3,036 yards and 26 touchdowns. Young also led Texas in rushing yards with 155 carries for 1,050 yards and 12 touchdowns.
His performance resulted in him being considered for the 2005 Heisman Trophy; however, it was given to Reggie Bush. On Jan. 4, 2006, Young helped the Longhorns defeat the USC Trojans 41-38 in the Rose Bowl.
He completed 30 of 40 passes for 267 yards. Although the Trojans prevented him from throwing a touchdown pass, they couldn't stop his running offense. Young had the most rushing yards in the game with 19 carries for 200 yards and three touchdowns.
Cam Newton shares how Vince Young's Rose Bowl win with the Texas Longhorns inspired him
Cam Newton revealed a conversation he had with Vince Young about how the Texas legend influenced his career. The former Carolina Panthers star praised Young's performance in the Rose Bowl, and called it the blueprint for his playing style.
"Bro, I had to tell this to Vince Young himself," Newton said on Thursday (1:05:43), via "4th & 1." "I said, 'Bro, you do not know what your performance in the Rose Bowl did for me as a high school athlete. That set the parameters of, oh, that's what I got to do.' It was nostalgic, almost like a euphoric."
Young's influence led to Newton being a great quarterback. The former Auburn star finished with 185 completions for 2,854 yards and 30 touchdowns. He also led his team in rushing yards with 264 carries for 1,473 yards and 20 touchdowns. However, unlike Young, Newton won the 2010 Heisman Trophy.
He is under consideration to follow in his idol's footsteps by being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame next year.
