"They’re so corny," a fan said.
"Lame as hell," another fan said.

College football fans believe the coach's pictures and videos with recruits are getting weird, and Venables is another case of it.

"Don’t blame him. Gotta get these in while he can. Texas about to get him fired," a fan said.
"I’m surprised BV is still recruiting, if he doesn’t excel this year he is gone, should be focusing on what he has in house," another fan said.

College football fans believe Venables needs to focus on the field and winning games at Oklahoma, and not taking shots at Texas.

"Coaches need to act like coaches. Not old men trying to be cool. Major cringe. Venables. Lanning. Kelly. Grow up. You think Chris Petersen or Saban would do this crap? Embarrassing," a fan added.
"How'd that work for you last time Brent? Enjoy your final season...," a fan wrote.

Brent Venables has been the Sooners' coach since 2022 and has gone 22-17 in three years. He's had just one winning season, going 10-3 in 2023.

Brent Venables will call defensive plays for Oklahoma

With Brent Venables likely on the hot seat, he made a major change to his coaching staff this season. Venables will be the team's play caller on defense, which is a role he feels comfortable with.

"Instinctively, that's a very natural space for me," Venables said to Josh Pate, via CBS Sports. "I've got a great staff that several of us have been together for a long time, so there's a deep understanding of what we do. I've got my fingerprints deep all over the defense, always have and always will."

Brent Venables is hopeful that his play-calling will make the Sooners' defense that much better.

"Why trust a first-time play caller at Oklahoma more than me?" Venables said. "For a long time I was a playcaller here and in college football, and it was a very comfortable space for me, but I've got a tremendous staff."

Oklahoma will open its 2025 college football season on Aug. 30 against Illinois State. The Sooners will have notable games against Michigan, Auburn, Texas, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, and LSU.
