Fans chimed in after offensive lineman and four-star recruit Hayden Ainsworth committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers over the Ole Miss Rebels. On Monday, On3's Hayes Fawcett reported that Ainsworth told him his decision to play for coach Matt Rhule for the 2026 season.

Fawcett also shared a statement from the offensive lineman expressing gratitude for committing to the Cornhuskers.

"Breaking: Class of 2026 IOL Hayden Ainsworth has Committed to Nebraska, he tells me for on3recruits The 6'5 310 IOL from Biloxi, MS chose the Cornhuskers over NC State & Ole Miss "God is truly great! GBR I'm home 1000%!!!" Fawcett tweeted.

Ainsworth will finish his last year playing for the Biloxi High School Indians (Biloxi, Mississippi). He'll begin the 2025 season against the Holmes County Central High School Jaguars (Lexington, Mississippi) on Aug. 29.

Several fans took a jibe at Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin for his inability to land Ainsworth's commitment.

"Lane Kiffin lockered by Rhule yet again," a fan wrote.
"Lane just needs to set up shop in a locker at this point," another fan commented.
"Ole Miss taking L after L," a third fan replied.

Other fans praised the 6-foot-5 recruit for choosing Rhule's team instead of Kiffin.

"Excellent decision young buck!!," a fan wrote.
"Excellent decision young man," a fan posted.
"Dudes a Beast," a sixth fan commented.

247Sports reports that Ole Miss is expected to meet with Ainsworth on Friday. Kiffin may have an opportunity to convince the four-star prospect to reconsider his decision to leave Mississippi.

Nebraska Cornhuskers' recruits for the 2026 season

Hayden Ainsworth's commitment could be a good sign for the Cornhuskers as they attempt to attract more high school stars to join the team next year. 247Sports reports that Rhule has six prospects, including the offensive lineman, who have agreed to join the 2026 roster.

Among the new players committed to joining the Cornhuskers is quarterback Dayton Raiola, the younger brother of starting quarterback Dylan Raiola. Dayton agreed to play for Rhule on Sep. 22, after he finishes his last season with the Buford High School Wolves (Georgia).

Another incoming prospect expected to sign with Nebraska is Dveyoun Bonwell-Witte. The wide receiver is entering his senior year playing for the Washington High School Warriors (Sioux Falls, South Dakota).

Rhule aims to add more talented players to his 2026 roster to aid in his goal of making Nebraska a national championship contender.
