Florida State’s Spring Showcase was marred by injuries, with wide receiver Malik Benson carted off on Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium.

A former JUCO All-American who transferred to Florida State after one season at Alabama, Benson had to be carted off the field with an apparent left foot injury (possibly an ankle injury). He was looked at as a candidate to take over WR1 duties.

Coach Mike Norvell did not offer an update on the injuries but told the media nothing looked overly extensive,” per On3. The Seminoles, fresh off last season’s Atlantic Coast Conference championship and looking to continue their momentum, will now have to play the waiting game to see the nature of Benson’s injury.

Over 18,000 fans attended the Spring Showcase, where Benson and quarterback DJ Uiagalelei connected on several plays, which is what FSU had hoped for.

The Seminoles remain optimistic that Malik Benson will recover soon and be back in action this summer, especially after the departure of quarterback Jordan Travis, as well as wide receivers Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson.

TJ Ferguson, an offensive lineman and recent transfer from Alabama, required medical attention during the game. The extent of his injury remains unclear, but the sight of him needing assistance was a cause for concern.

Running back Caziah Holmes was also injured. He was escorted to the locker room while "walking gingerly," according to SInow's Dustin Lewis.

The injury to wide receiver Malik Benson was the most alarming. With 2,152 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns over two seasons at Hutchinson Community College, Benson caught the attention of major college football programs.
