The Louisiana Monroe Warhawks succumbed to a 28-23 loss to Marshall in Week 10 of the 2024 college football season. With this defeat, the Warhawks are 5-3 so far this campaign (3-2 Sun Belt conference). However, ULM assistant coach Cameron Blankenship is making headlines instead of the outcome of the game.
In a video shared on social media, Blankenship was caught having a meltdown on the sideline. During his anger, he went berserk on sophomore offensive lineman Drew Hutchinson.
The Louisiana Monroe assistant was seen chasing Hutchinson off the field in a fit of rage and shoving the player in the chest. Other players then intervened between them and separated Cameron Blankenship from the offensive lineman.

Fans took to social media to call out the ULM assistant coach's behavior and attitude towards his player. One fan suggested that Blankenship needs professional help.
"Might need therapy."
Another fan was not impressed with the sudden burst of rage by the Louisiana Monroe assistant coach.
"Lame"
This fan talked about how Drew Hutchinson showed restraint when being shoved by Blankenship.
"Coach did touch him. Can't do that. Give credit to the player for not punching him."
Another fan highlighted the dark side of 'tough coaching'.
"The behavior of some in the coaching profession is beyond pathetic. Frankly some of these 'tough coaching' moments are just an excuse to abuse power to bully young men. I've experienced it first hand- guys like this are cowards and have low intelligence behind closed doors."
This fan stated that Blankenship should be terminated from his position immediately.
"@ULM_FB should fired Cameron Blankenship and he should not be allowed to coach again."
Meanwhile, one fan welcomed the fact that the school would discipline the coach for his actions.
"Glad to hear that. His actions were outrageous and uncalled for."
Louisiana Monroe to take disciplinary actions against Cameron Blankenship
After the incident, the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks released a statement where they said that disciplinary actions would be taken against Blankenship.
"In Saturday's game against Marshall, Assistant Coach Cameron Blankenship made physical contact with a ULM student-athlete on the sideline."
"This behavior is unacceptable and not how ULM football conducts businesss. There will be disciplinary action taken against the assistant coach. Because this is a personal matter, the discipline will be handled internally."
Louisiana Monroe is next scheduled to take on Texas State. It will be interesting to see if they can go on to qualify for a bowl game this season.
