Ryan Wingo chooses Texas as Arch Manning, Longhorns recruiting secure major win in 5-star WR's commitment

Texas Houston Football
Steve Sarkisian hit another home run for the Texas Longhorns recruiting.

The Texas Longhorns are entering Week 9 of the college football season.

They're trying to climb back into the College Football Playoff and are seventh-ranked program right now. However, they are preparing for the future as well.

They have one of the best players available on the recruiting market joining the Longhorns: wide receiver Ryan Wingo committed to the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday.

Wingo will be joining the Longhorns next season as part of the 2024 class.

Adding a six-foot two-inch, 205-pound wide receiver who's considered to be the second-best receiver in the high school class is going to be incredible for coach Steve Sarkisian. Wingo and freshman quarterback Arch Manning could be lethal next season.

Wingo has incredible speed, as he ran a 10.55 in the 100 meters for track at the Missouri 5A state championships.

He also had official visits with the Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines and Missouri Tigers, so they seemed to be the final four options.

He has ties in college football as his brother, Ronnie Wingo Jr., played running back for the Arkansas Razorbacks from 2009-12. That's nothing but outstanding for the future offensive duo to lead the Longhorns.

What should we expect out of the 2024 Texas Longhorns?

The Texas Longhorns are in an interesting spot for next season now.

They officially leave the Big 12 Conference and join the Southeastern Conference. The program has already shown the ability to dominate and will likely make the official transition from quarterback Quinn Ewers to Arch Manning for next season when Ewers enters the 2024 NFL draft.

The Longhorns have been one of the most talented programs heading into next season, and that's before even adding some players through the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Texas has been one of the college football powerhouses, so joining the SEC to play in Steve Sarkisian's offense and have Arch Manning throwing the football will be enticing.

The addition of Ryan Wingo is the third five-star high school recruit in the class of 2024, as they also have linebacker Colin Simmons as well as offensive tackle Brandon Baker.

Hence, the talent will be there to be one of the best college football programs. With their ability to potentially make the College Football Playoff this season and create a building block, the future of the Texas Longhorns program is looking incredibly bright.
