During an August 31 airing of College GameDay, Pat McAfee was seen dancing in his seat, and Nick Saban looked over at him and seemed rather unimpressed. On Friday, September 6, McAfee hilariously confronted Saban over their viral moment.
McAfee said:
"I don’t know if you’ve heard, you and me were on the internet. I was dancing and you were side eyeing the sh*t outta me. Here it is, here. You’re giving me a nice side eye."

Saban replied:
"Yeah, I don’t know what to think."
McAfee continued;
"Yeah, you were thinking I was an a**hole, which a lot of people think."
Saban ended the bit by replying in his trademark tone:
"I wasn’t thinking that."
Pat McAfee and Nick Saban are part of College GameDay
The college season is barely two weeks old, and Pat McAfee and Nick Saban have already gone viral for their interaction on ESPN College GameDay.
McAfee has been part of College GameDay for the past two seasons. However, despite the two years being the most watched in the program's history, averaging 2.1 million viewers in 2022 and 2.0 million in 2023, McAfee faced significant criticism.
Hence, the former Indianapolis Colts punter had second thoughts about returning for 2024. Eventually, he announced his return on July 24, 2024, via the Pat McAfee Show. He'll join host Rece Davis, Nick Saban, Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit, and Lee Corso on the broadcast.
Saban frequently appeared on College GameDay as a guest during his 17-year tenure with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Saban was increasingly regular in the 2023 college football season, which turned out to be his last in collegiate football.
Following his retirement from coaching, ESPN announced that Saban would be joining the long-time Saturday pregame road show. The Crimson Tide icon will be an on-set analyst for “GameDay,” joining the rest of the crew.
What did Nick Saban say about joining College GameDay?
Nick Saban said about joining the program:
"ESPN and College GameDay have played such a significant role in the growth of college football, and I am honored to have the opportunity to join their roster.
"I will do my best to offer further perspective and insight to contribute to College GameDay, the Ultimate Saturday tradition for CFB fans."
It's important to note that Saban appeared on ESPN’s college football coverage as a star guest analyst during the few postseasons when the Crimson Tide weren't competing for the national championship. He looks just at home with McAfee and Co.
