Taking all 10 wickets in a single innings is a rare feat in cricket and it has only been achieved by very few bowlers in the past. India’s legendary leg-spinner Anil Kumble achieved the unique feat in a Test match against Pakistan at the Feroze Shah Kotla in 1999. An 18-year-old pacer named Nazil CT, who was representing his team Kannur in Kerala's junior inter-district tournament at the KCA stadium in Perinthalmanna, emulated the legend’s incredible feat as he took all the 10 wickets in a single innings.

Nazil caught everyone’s attention on the opening day of a two-day U-19 inter-district cricket match at the KCA stadium in Perinthalmanna when he achieved the feat and it was his incredible ten-wicket haul that helped his side, Kannur, bundle out their opponents Malappuram for just 26 in their first innings.

The youngster got the ball to swing and troubled all the batsmen as he ended up with figures of 9.4-2-12-10. Nazil, who considers himself predominantly a swing bowler, said, "I'm an inswing bowler and I don't strive for much pace and it helped that the ball moved around in the morning," reports Times of India.

Wants to play in the Ranji Trophy

Out of his 10 scalps, 4 were bowled and three were leg-before wickets which proved his immaculate accuracy. The young boy from Kannur hails from a family with a cricketing background. Fabid Farooq, the off-spinner who made his first-class debut for Kerala last season, is the son of Nazil's uncle. Nazil wants to follow the footsteps of his cousin and play for Kerala in the Ranji Trophy.

He said, "I would like to play for Kerala one day. For the moment, it's about doing well for my district team." The young swing bowler idolises Bhuvneshwar Kumar who is also known to be a bowler who relies on swing.

Picking up all the 10 wickets in an innings is no mean achievement and Nazil has surely done a commendable job by achieving that rare distinction. In the history of international cricket, only Jim Laker and Anil Kumble have managed to achieve that so far. The Kerala boy has surely etched his name in the history books with his incredible performance.

England spinner Jim Laker was the first cricketer who did the perfect 10 in the 4th Ashes Test against Australia at Old Trafford in 1964. Laker picked up 10 wickets for 53 runs in Australia’s second innings to script a memorable victory for England over their archrivals.

The English off-spinner had also picked up 9 wickets in the first innings in that same test match to cap off a memorable match where he picked up 19 wickets and this is a feat which is yet to be emulated or broken.

This young bloke from Kerala is surely someone to watch out for in the future.
