3 former CSK players who are part of Texas Super Kings in MLC 2025 ft. Faf du Plessis

The third edition of Major League Cricket (MLC) kicked off on June 13, 2025. The month-long tournament will be held in the United States of America (USA) and promises to be bigger and better in its third year.

The six-nation MLC tournament achieved tremendous success in its first two editions and serves as a catalyst for promoting and popularizing cricket in the USA.

Texas Super Kings (TSK) are yet to win the MLC title and will aim to replicate the success of five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Several players who have represented CSK in the past are now part of TSK. Here’s a look at three such players:

#1 Faf du Plessis-

The former South African captain leads TSK. He has been with TSK since the inception of MLC.

The batter had a rough run in MLC 2023, scoring just 46 runs in seven innings. He returned to form in MLC 2024, scoring 420 runs in eight innings at an impressive average of 52.50 and a remarkable strike rate of 171.42. The 40-year-old du Plessis is at the helm of TSK for MLC 2025.

Faf du Plessis played seven seasons for CSK in the IPL, specifically in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020/21, and 2021. He scored 398, 303, 380, 162, 396, 449, and 633 runs respectively for CSK in these IPL seasons.

He was an integral part of the team that won the IPL trophy in 2018 and 2021. He excelled in IPL 2021, scoring 633 runs at an average of 45.21 and a strike rate of 138.20, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer in IPL 2021.

The South African has experienced success in the IPL and will look to replicate it in the MLC by leading TSK to victory.

#2 Daryl Mitchell-

The Kiwi batter is among the most consistent performers in white-ball cricket in the middle order.

Mitchell is playing in his first ever season of the MLC as part of the TSK team. He scored eight runs in his only match in the MLC and aims to make an impact in the upcoming games.

Mitchell previously played for CSK in IPL 2024 and had a solid season. In 15 innings, the Kiwi batter scored 351 runs at a strike rate of 142.60, including two half-centuries in IPL 2024. He was an essential part of the CSK batting lineup.

He was released ahead of the IPL 2025 auction and did not feature in IPL 2025. CSK missed a player of Mitchell's caliber in the middle order and ended up at the bottom of the points table in IPL 2025.

#3 Adam Milne-

The Kiwi pacer had a spectacular MLC debut against MI New York on June 14, 2025. Playing for TSK, the pacer claimed three wickets, Agni Chopra, Quinton de Kock, and Michael Bracewell, leading his team to a three-run victory.

Milne has participated in the IPL for four seasons, in 2016, 2017, 2021, and 2022. While he played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2016 and 2017, he represented Mumbai Indians in 2021 and CSK in 2022.

Injuries have been a significant aspect of Milne's career, as he has played in just 10 IPL matches over the years.

His only appearance for CSK was against the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022, where he went wicketless in the 2.3 overs he bowled. This was incidentally the last time he played in the IPL.
