#3 Leadership in safe hands

En
Pakistan skipper, Sarfaraz Ahmed

There is a saying, ‘Work like a captain, play like a pirate’ completely goes in metaphor to the character of Sarfaraz Ahmed. He may not be the best batsman in the Pakistani side, he may not be having the safest pair of hands when it comes to wicketkeeping, but he certainly possesses a good cricketing brain to marshal his resources to good effect.

A successful captain doesn’t need to be a good player. He should be able to formulate some shrewd strategies that can create winning strategies on the field. For instance, Arjuna Ranatunga was not a great batsman but he stood by his team through thick and thin and that’s how he earned his share of respect.

Likewise, Sarfraz Ahmed is completely aware of his team’s strengths & weaknesses and successfully led a bunch of young players to win some major tournaments. If not the guy with a Midas touch as MS Dhoni, the 31-year-old certainly knows when to spell his Lucky Mojo in crunch situations.
