4 impressive debuts for South Africa in the tournament

Junior Dala
The highest wicket taker of the T20I series

India's tour of South Africa came to an end with India winning the final T20I at Cape Town. The tournament was a topsy-turvy ride for the hosts as well as for the visitors. While the Test series was dominated by the South Africans who won the series 2-0, the ODI series was fully dominated by India who won 5 of the 6 ODIs.

The T20I series saw an impressive fight being put up by both the teams but India emulated the hosts in the series decider to win the T20 series 2-1. Amidst the intense action over the two months, there were some impressive debuts for South Africa in the tournament.

Here are the four debutants who impressed everyone in the tournament.

#4 Junior Dala

Junior Dala emerged as the highest wicket-taker in the T20I series. Although he was hammered for 47 runs in the first T20I, Dala returned with 2 wickets in the match. He bowled quite impressively in the series taking 7 wickets in 3 matches.

Dala troubled the batsman with his pace throughout the series, especially Rohit Sharma who was trapped thrice by him in the series. With the bowling commitment that he showed in the last T20I, Dala is eyeing a permanent place in the T20 squad.

#3 Christiaan Jonker

After the wicket of JP Duminy fell South Africa required 64 from 24 balls and it was all but over for South Africa but Jonker's late hitting took South Africa to 165 just 8 runs short of the target. Jonker played a brilliant inning of 49 runs of just 24 balls.

Klassen was handed over the wicket-keeping duty in the 3rd match of the ODI series after de Kock was ruled out of the tournament owing to an injury. Klassen showed his class in the 'Pink ODI' which was the fourth match of the series.

Klassen played a match-winning knock of 43 of 27 balls handing South Africa their first and the only win in the ODI series. In the following two ODIs he contributed 39 and 22 respectively.

He once again fired in the 2nd T20 international when he scored 69 runs off 30 balls and hit 7 huge sixes taking his team home. Klassen has successfully replaced Quinton de Kock both as a batsman and a wicket-keeper in South Africa team and has left de Kock's place in the team in danger.
