Cricket is considered to be a serious game, but sometimes, things may get funny and fans enjoy the comical side of the sport no less than the game itself. Over the years, there have been several instances of players doing something unusual on the field which leaves the fans in splits. Even the commentators are not able to keep themselves away from laughing.

While some celebrations that appear to be funny are voluntary others just come in the haste of the moment and players often regret such doings. In an age of the internet, such hilarious moments quickly become the butt of jokes and social media gets flooded with memes on the topic in a matter of minutes.

There have been several such crazy celebrations in cricket history and here are five of the craziest of them:


#5 Sheldon Cottrell's salute sendoff

Sheldon Cottrell, the tall bowler from West Indies is famous for his salute sendoffs. Cottrell who can be often seen celebrating in his trademark style in the Caribbean Premier League does it on the international stage too.

His style of celebration is something that leaves the commentators in splits every time he executes it. Soon, after taking a wicket, he marches down the pitch similar to that of a soldier and salutes the batsman sending him off the ground.

Once the West Indian was left embarrassed after he performed his celebratory steps only to find after a few moments that the batsman was not out.

#4 Dwayne Bravo's 'Champion' dance

Dwayne Bravo, one of the finest all-rounders in the world is one of the biggest entertainers too. The mighty West Indian has always engaged his fans on and off the field. Bravo belongs to the class of the players who do not have a single hater.

He can often be seen dancing in the field, celebrating even the smallest of moments. One of his many celebratory dances includes the famous 'Champion' dance that he performs in the field after taking a wicket or a catch.

Bravo released his 'Champion' song ahead of the World T20 in 2016 which soon became famous and the whole of the West Indies team was seen dancing to the tunes of the song during the World T20. The man himself doesn't miss an opportunity these days to celebrate in his unique style.

#3 Virat Kohli sticking his tongue out

This crazy celebratory moment came in the semifinal match of the Champions Trophy 2017 which was played between India and Bangladesh. After nothing was going India's way, Virat Kohli handed over the ball to Kedar Jadhav who was quick to fetch the wicket of Tamim Iqbal.

Soon, Jadhav struck again and this time the ball landed in Kohli's safe hands off the bat of Mushfiqur Rahim. Hastily Kohli stuck his tongue out and drifted sideways to celebrate the wicket which left the fans in splits.

The meme makers got another topic for the day and the internet was soon full of witty jokes on the incident.

#2 Sreesanth dancing in the middle of the pitch

The first Test of India's tour of South Africa in 2006 will be remembered forever for two big reasons. First, it was India's rare Test victory over South Africa in their home and second for the famous dance of Sreesanth.

India dominated the hosts reducing them to 84 all-out in the 1st innings. India who were batting on 219/9 in the 2nd inning had swelled the lead to 384 and Sreesanth was at the crease. In the heat of the moment, the bowler, Andre Nel tried to sledge Sreesanth who was on strike. The Indian pacer took it as a challenge and hit the very next ball for a long six over the bowler's head.

The South African looked embarrassed and didn't say a word but Sreesanth had something up for him. The pacer came down to the middle of the pitch to show off his dancing skills, whirling the bat in circles.

#1 Bangladesh team's 'Nagin' dance

he Bangladesh team performing the Nagin dance as a part of their victory celebration is the craziest of all celebrations in the history of cricket. The incident took place in the 6th match of the Nidahas Trophy series which was played between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The match turned out to be a virtual semi-final for both the teams as the winner would proceed to meet India in the finals.

After an enthralling game of cricket played between both the teams, Bangladesh managed to win the match in the final over of the game on the back of the impressive performance by Mahmudullah who scored 43 of 18 balls.

After a lot of drama that unfolded in the last over, Bangladesh required 6 off 2 deliveries and Mahmudullah hit the bowler for a six and took his team home. Soon, after the match in the heat of the moment, the Bangladesh team gathered in the middle of the ground to celebrate the victory performing the 'Nagin' dance.
