After a terrible few days for the game of cricket following the death of the 20-year-old Bengal cricketer Ankit Keshri, it has emerged that a 6-year-old boy, Vamshi Krishna, in the city of Hyderabad has passed away after being hit on the chest by a cricket ball. Playing cricket with his friends in the Vanasthipulam area of Hyderabad, he collapsed to the ground as soon as the ball hit him.

Although he was rushed to a nearby hospital, it turned out to be too late as the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

"The boy collapsed on the ground. Alerted by other boys, locals rushed him to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead," Vanasthalipuram ACP Bhaskar told The Hindu.

While the officer added that there was no intention on anyone’s part to cause any harm, a case has been filed under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

"Though no one had any intention to cause injury, a case was registered and investigation is on," the ACP said.

On Monday this week, Keshri lost his life in tragic circumstances after suffering a nasty collision with teammate Sourabh Mondal at the Jadavpur University Campus Ground. He had been taken to a private hospital and his condition was said to be stable initially but a subsequent cardiac arrest proved to be too fatal.
