England Coach Andy Flower with England team members during 4th Test of Ashes

Andy Flower wants his side to win the last Test match of the Ashes next week at The Oval and sweep away the series 4-0. He has assured that he will be resting several players but wants to win the already captured Ashes 4-0.

He said, as quoted by Express, “First we want to win the fifth Test, then we will start talking about who needs a rest and who doesn’t. Planning ahead is very important, but we want to win 4-0.”

He has admitted that some of the star performers of his team, including captain Alastair Cook and bowler James Anderson are in a need of a break after an arduous summer. The 45-year-old coach from Zimbabwe is keen to give several Test players who also figure in the limited-overs set-ups some down time between the two big Ashes series, with the second one coming up in 3 months.

Flower professed that no decisions have been made on resting Cook yet. He said, “Alastair has handled the captaincy really well so far and, like all the players, he is probably a bit weary after four Test matches.”

“But most of the guys will be feeling that way and there is a nice break now. He will be ready for that fifth Test.”

Stuart Broad or Eoin Morgan will lead the charge if Cook is rested for ODI series vs Australia while James Anderson will be given a complete series rest.

But it is quite unexpected that Cook and Flower will change sides at The Oval and Flower has also revealed that Kevin Pietersen will not be released to Surrey for the Friends Life T20 finals day at Edgbaston this Saturday while Chris Tremlett will be available.
