Cricket World Cup 2011 Group B: Seven possible quarter final Qualifiers

England won by 18 runs against West Indies last Thursday and created a lot of possibilities in group B. Though England & Bangladesh have a tough situation… India also is not through to Quarter finals.

From group A, Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand & Sri Lanka are already into quarter finals.

There are seven ways for Group B teams to reach quarter finals as follows;

Way No. 1:

If South Africa wins against Bangladesh & India also wins against West Indies, then Bangladesh will go out of World Cup because of 6 points + low run rate. Standings will be like follows;

South Africa (10)

India (9)

England (7)

West Indies (6)

Way No. 2:

If Bangladesh wins against South Africa & West Indies win against India, then South Africa, West Indies & Bangladesh will go into quarter finals with first three positions (8 points each). England will go out of World cup because of low run rate than India, though they will have same 7 points as India. Standings will be like follows;

Way No. 3:

If Bangladesh wins against South Africa & India wins against West Indies, then West Indies will go out of World cup because of only 6 points. Standings will be like follows;

Way No. 4:

If South Africa wins against Bangladesh & West Indies wins against India, then South Africa will lead the board with 10 points. West Indies will be on 2^nd position. Then England & India, position will be according to their run rate. Bangladesh will go out of world cup. Standings will be like follows;

India / England (7) (Position will be decided on run rate basis)

Way No.5:

If India – West Indies match results into tie, then both teams will get 1 point each. If Bangladesh wins against South Africa then SA, Bangladesh & India will go into quarter finals. On the basis of run rate, West Indies will go into next round instead of England.

Way No. 6:

Bangladesh- SA & India-WI, both matches will results into tie or cancel, then SA will be on 1^st position & India will be on 2^nd position. Rest positions will be decided on run rate basis.

Way No. 7:

This was predicted way as Bangladesh – SA match will tie or cancel. But as now match is going properly .. so there are no chances of match getting cancel or tie. IF match ties, then England will go into next round. Other positions will depend on result of India – West Indies match.

Good news for India is … through all possible ways, India is through to next round of World Cup 2011 ..
