What's the story?

The Tamil Nadu wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik recently elucidated about the difference between three captains- Dhoni, Kohli and Rohit Sharma that he has played under.

In case you didn't know..

Karthik has been a part of the Indian team since 2004 and has had the opportunity to play under likes of Dhoni, Kohli and Rohit. He himself captained the Tamil Nadu team for a long time, and is also currently captaining the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.

The heart of the matter

Talking about the World Cup winning captain MS Dhoni, he said that Dhoni is instinctive by nature. He also said that MS has taken some match turning decisions on the field.

When it comes to the current Indian captain Virat Kohli, Karthik said that Kohli loves taking on the opponents, something which most of us are aware of. He also said that Virat keeps raising the bar in every other game he plays. Here is what he said about these two leaders, as quoted in the Hindustan Times

“MS is very instinctive as a skipper. He takes a lot of decisions on the field in the spur of the moment. Virat on the other hand, is very aggressive, likes to take on the opposition. He is immensely self-confident and has consistently kept raising the bar, as a batter and a leader. "

He also shared his experience about India's stand-in captain Rohit Sharma, who had recently won an Asia cup for India. He vouched for him as one of the most astute captains when it comes to strategy, and that Rohit comes to the game after doing his homework.

“And then there is Rohit. He always does his homework, is very strategic, very hands-on. Keeps going and speaking with his bowlers, has a word with the batters too. He is very thorough in his approach as a captain,” said Karthik about the Mumbai based cricketer.

What's next?

India is set to play the play home series against Australia. Dinesh Karthik is most likely to be picked in both T20 and ODI series. The Tamil Nadu cricketer would like to grab the opportunities with both the hands to seal his World Cup spot.
