A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Sakshi Dhoni, the wife of India limited-overs captain MS Dhoni, related to a dispute over payments to an associate firm in which Mrs. Dhoni’s Rhiti MSD Almode Private Limited had invested. Dennis Arora, the owner of Sportsfit World Private Limited, has filed a multi-crore fraud case against Sakshi, accusing that the proportionate amount in lieu of the shares of his company, that were bought by Rhiti MSD, was not paid.
It was also mentioned that the deadline for clearing the dues, that was March 31, 2016, had passed and only an amount of Rs. 2.25 crores instead of the agreed 11 crores was paid.
A case under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against Sakshi and three others – Arun Pandey, Shubhawati Pandey and Pratima Pandey – who are the co-directors of Rhiti MSD Almode Private Limited, according to a report in Dainik Bhaskar.
Sportsfit World Private Limited is a gym and fitness company.
Arora, who is a resident of Gurugram (Gurgaon) has filed the complaint at the city’s Sushant Lok Police Station, according to a report published in India.com.
Rhiti co-director dismisses allegations
Arun Pandey, one of the directors of Rhiti, however, countered the allegations by mentioning that they had paid more than what was due for the shares that Arora had transferred. He also added that the case cannot be registered against Sakshi, as she had left the company almost a year ago.
Pandey also questioned the legitimacy of the FIR registered by saying that since the case is pending for arbitration after the order from the Delhi High Court, an FIR cannot be registered.
Sakshi has not reacted to the allegations yet, and it has been learnt that the police is still investigating the matter and that there is no confirmation regarding any charges that might have been pressed against the India cricketer’s wife.
This has come as an unnecessary diversion from the otherwise smooth and pleasant journey that the cricketer has been on since the release of his biopic, ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ which is a feature film directed by popular Bollywood director Neeraj Pandey.
The film brought to the fore several revealing aspects from the 35-year-old cricketer’s life including his love-affair with Sakshi that led to their eventual marriage, apart from another revelation regarding Dhoni’s other romantic interest, Priyanka Jha.
The biopic has been a hit at the box office and it has been a perfect gift for the Indian captain’s fans, who would like to see more of his appearances on the field, as he approaches the twilight of his cricketing career.
