IPL player auction to be held on February 16

Yuvraj Singh will be one of the marquee players available at the auction

The player auction for the 2015 Indian Premier League (IPL) season will be held at Bangalore on February 16.

Some of the marquee players available in the auction are Yuvraj Singh, Kevin Pietersen and Dinesh Karthik, each of whom has fetched the highest base price of Rs 2,00,00,000 after being released by their respective franchises during the recent IPL trading window. However, the exact number of players taking part in the auction is unclear as of now, with the declaration of the auction pool having been postponed to February 4.

Apart from the amount each franchise generates from the release of players, they will also get an additional purse of Rs 3,00,00,000.

The auction will clash with the World Cup fixture between West Indies and Ireland at Saxton Oval, Nelson.

The 8th edition of the IPL will kick off on April 16 with a clash between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians.
