Former Australian wicketkeeper Brad Haddin has been appointed as the mentor of the Mysuru Warriors for the 2016 edition of the Karnataka Premier League.
In a statement issued by the franchise after the association, Mr. Arjun Ranga, owner of the Warriors said "We are delighted to have Mr. Haddin on board as a mentor for Mysuru Warriors in the upcoming KPL. We are sure that his experience in the international arena will bring a lot of exposure to our players, and will help them reach the next level".
He made his debut in a top-level coaching role by being the assistant coach of the Australia A team. He worked with the likes of Michael and David Hussey, under the primary coaching of Troy Cooley. He had, however, conceded then that he was still not ready to make his foray into full-time coaching. He recently completed his Level 3 high-performance certificate in Australia.
The 38-year old, who retired after the World Cup last year, played 126 ODIs and 66 Tests for Australia. Post retirement, he became the ambassador for Sydney Cricket Ground, along with Steven Smith.
The Warriors will be captained by the 26-year old Manish Pandey, who is currently playing in the Quadrangular A-team one-day series in Mackay, Australia. The final of the tournament will be played between India A and Australia A.
The Karnataka Premier League 2016 kicks off with the opening match between Bellary Tuskers and Belagavi Panthers on September 16. It will be followed by the second match between Bijapur Bulls and Rockstars. The inaugural edition of the KPL was made in 2009. The Warriors won the 2014 edition, beating Belgavi Panthers in the finals by six wickets.
