West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday wished the Indian cricket team ahead of their opening game in the World Cup against Pakistan at Adelaide on Sunday.

“World Champion India meets Pakistan on February 15 in their first match in the ICC Cricket World Cup, 2015. All the best to Team India,” Banerjee wrote on her Facebook page.

Fourteen teams are competing for cricket's most coveted trophy, including first-timers Afghanistan. The final of the mega event will be played on March 29 in Melbourne.

A total of 49 matches will be played between February 14 and March 29.

Banerjee, who has been an avid sports follower, has also recently donated some local clubs a sum of Rs. 2 lakh each for development of sports and games infrastructure.
