The 22nd match of Mzansi Super League 2019 will feature a clash between the front runner in the points table, Tshwane Spartans and the fifth-placed Cape Town Blitz. Tshwane Spartans are high on momentum having crushed Paarl Rocks by 8 wickets in their previous match. On the other hand, Cape Town Blitz had suffered a defeat at the hands of Durban Heat in their last outing.
This is the first time these two teams will lock horns in the MSL 2019 but in the previous season. Cape Town Blitz got the better of Spartans on both occaisions when they played against each other twice in the last years competition. Hence, the head-to-head record favors the Blitz in this match.
Speaking about the players to look out for, AB de Villiers played a fantastic knock against Paarl Rocks the other day. The former South African skipper would be keen to repeat the same performance once again.
The Cape Town Blitz fans will rest their hopes on the duo of Dale Steyn and Wahab Riaz to keep the likes of Dean Elgar, Heinrich Klaasen and de Villiers under control.
Cape Town Blitz
The Blitz had lost their previous game in the final over hence, it is unlikely that the team management would alter the match squad. However, they may replace Vernon Philander with Anrich Nortje as Philander had leaked 25 runs in his 2 over-spell against Heat. Skipper Quinton de Kock will have to lead his side from the front against Spartans.
Probable XI: Quinton de Kock (c & wk), Janneman Malan, David Bedingham, Liam Livingstone, Asif Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Wahab Riaz, Sisanda Magala, Anrich Nortje, Dale Steyn, Aviwe Mgijima
The only unbeaten team of MSL 2019, Tshwane Spartans will look to continue with the same playing XI that decimated the Paarl Rocks. AB de Villiers will be the key to the team's success once again.
Probable XI: Theunis de Bruyn, Dean Elgar, AB de Villiers, Heinrich Klaasen (c & wk), Petrus van Biljon, Wiaan Mulder, Tom Curran, Roelof van der Merwe, Morne Morkel, Lungi Ngidi, Lutho Sipamla
Although Tshwane Spartans have never defeated Cape Town Blitz in MSL history, expect them to break the losing streak at Cape Town. AB de Villiers and co. are in good form and, their bowling attack has fired in unison. Thus, the Spartans should cement their top spot after this match.
Tshwane Spartans are expected to win this match.
