N Srinivasan, the former BCCI president who was forced to quit his post in the aftermath of the controversies arising out of the infamous IPL spot-fixing scandal, is having no such worries down south as the 71-year-old was unanimously elected as the president of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) for the 15th consecutive time. Srinivasan was elected unopposed during the TNCA’s 86th Annual General Meeting held in the capital city of Chennai on Sunday.

His clout in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may have weakened considerably with the Arun Jaitely-Rajeev Shukla combine exerting a firm grip on the running of the board’s affairs but despite the innumerable controversies and investigations involving his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, who has been charge sheeted by the police in the spot-fixing scandal, Srinivasan’s influence in the state cricket body is as strong as ever and today’s election results was proof of the same.

Srinivasan, who was introduced into cricket administration by former BCCI president AC Muttiah, took over the reigns of the TNCA for the first time in 2002-03 replacing his very own mentor and has been at the helm of cricket affairs in the state ever since.

Along with Srinivasan, another long-serving member of the TNCA, KS Viswanathan was also re-elected as its secretary for the 10th consecutive time as he too did not face any opposition.

"N Srinivasan and KS Viswanathan have been elected as President and Secretary of TNCA for the 15th and 10th time respectively," the TNCA stated.

In fact, the ruling group members were elected unopposed as the Srinivasan camp exhibited their power and hold in the association at present. There was, however, a few changes in personnel as a long-time veteran of the TNCA, Prabhakar Rao, one of the four vice-presidents bringing down curtains on his administrative career. Raghavan and Albert Muralitharan were also replaced as vice presidents with K Murali, G Srinivasan and G Bhaskaran assuming the role of Srinivasan’s deputy for the first time.

Here is the full list of the office-bearers of the TNCA.

The main agenda of the new TNCA body would be the successful conduct of the Tamil Nadu Premier League T20 tournament which is seen by many as Srinivasan's attempt to remain in the scheme of things as he plots his return to the BCCI.
