New Zealand held off Pakistan's chase

New Zealand defeated Pakistan in the 1st ODI on Pakistan's tour of New Zealand. New Zealand finished with a score of 280 while losing 8 wickets. Pakistan's run chase came up short as they finished with just 210 runs before losing all wickets by the 46th over.

New Zealand were led by Henry Nicholls who had 82 runs from 111 balls. He hit 7 fours in the match as well. He was bowled by Anwar Ali.

Both Mitchell Santner and Matt Henry added 48 runs a piece as well. Mitchell McClenaghan was the next top scorer for New Zealand as he finished with 31 runs from 18 balls.

For Pakistan Anwar Ali bowled 59 deliveries and took 3 wickets. He did allow 66 runs though. Mohammad Amir also added 3 wickets to the tally as he allowed 28 runs from 8.1 overs. Mohammad Irfan was the only other wicket-taker for Pakistan as he took 2 wickets while allowing 43 runs in 10 overs.

For Pakistan Babar Azam led the way with 62 runs off 76 balls. He was caught by Nicholls on a delivery by Anderson. Mohammad Hafeez added 42 runs on 56 deliveries before being caught by Henry on a Williamson delivery.

Sarfraz Ahmed scored 30 runs off 29 deliveries before being caught by Anderson on a Boult delivery.
