An all-round effort by New Zealand helped them complete a 3-0 whitewash over Bangladesh in the ODI series. The hosts beat Bangladesh in the 3rd and final One Day International played at University Oval, Dunedin on Tuesday. It was a dominating performance by the host who posted a massive total and then defended the target with ease.

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and decided to field first. New Zealand got off to a poor start as Colin Munro was dismissed cheaply for eight runs. Martin Guptill and Henry Nicholls steadied the innings and at the end of 10 overs, New Zealand were 52 for 1.

Martin Guptill was dismissed for 29 runs off Saifuddin bowling. Ross Taylor and Henry Nicholls put on a solid partnership for the third wicket. Henry Nicholls reached his fifty off 61 balls while Ross Taylor reached his 50 off 60 balls. Ross Taylor and Nicholls added 92 runs for the 3rd wicket.

Henry Nicholls scored 64 and was dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Latham looked in aggressive touch and reached his fifty off just 43 balls. Tom Latham and Jimmy Neesham added 65 runs for the fifth wicket. Both the New Zealand batsmen made the batting look easy.

Jimmy Neesham scored a quick fire 37 off 24 balls. Colin de Grandhomme remained not out on 37 off 15 balls. New Zealand posted 330 for 6 at the end of 50 overs.

Chasing 331 runs to win, Bangladesh got off to worse possible start as Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar were dismissed in the very first over by Tim Southee. Tim Southee then dismissed Liton Das for one to put Bangladesh batting under tremendous pressure. Before the end of power play overs, Mushfiqur Rahim was dismissed for 17 runs. Bangladesh were reduced to 40 for 4 at the end of 10 overs.

Sabbir Rahman and Mohammad Saifuddin tried to steady the innings as they added 101 runs for the 6th wicket. Sabbir Rahman reached his half-century off 59 balls. Boult dismissed Saifuddin for 44. Sabbir Rahman and Mehidy Miraz Hasan added 75 runs for the eighth wicket. Sabbir Rahman reached his 100 off 105 balls. Finally, Bangladesh were bowled out for 242 in 47.2 overs. Tim Southee finished with figures of 6 for 65 in 9.2 overs.

Brief scores: New Zealand 330 for 6 in 50 overs (Ross Taylor 69, Henry Nicholls 64, Tom Latham 59, Mustafizur Rahman 2/93, Mashrafe Mortaza 1/51) beat Bangladesh 242 in 47.2 overs (Sabbir Rahman 102, Tim Southee 6/65) by 88 runs.
