Charlie Cassell powers Scotland to victory

Scotland were dominant against Oman and secured a comprehensive win. After opting to field first, they bowled their opponents out for 91 runs in 21.4 overs. Charlie Cassell was their star performer as he broke Kagiso Rabada’s nine-year-old record for the best bowling figures on debut in the history of ODIs. He scalped seven wickets in 5.4 overs, while conceding just 21 runs. Rabada had recorded figures of 6/16 against Bangladesh in 2015.

Oman opening batter Pratik Athavale scored 34 runs off 56 balls with four fours, but apart from him none of the other batters performed well. Brad Currie, Brandon McMullen, and Gavin Main accounted for a scalp apiece.

Scotland chased down the target in just 17.2 overs. Charlie Tear was dismissed by Fayyaz Butt in the third over. His opening partner, George Munsey, got a start and scored 23 runs before Bilal Khan cleaned him up.

Brandon McMullen and Berrington put on an unbeaten partnership of 48 runs to take Scotland past the finish line. McMullen was their top scorer with 37 runs from 43 balls with six fours.
