Team India's senior batter KL Rahul and his actress wife Athiya Shetty are set to become parents. On Friday, November 8, Athiya disclosed that the couple will welcome their first child in 2025.

Taking to her official Instagram account, Athiya shared a photograph to announce her pregnancy. The announcement read:

It is worth mentioning that KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty tied the knot on January 23, 2023. They met in 2019 through a mutual friend and dated for a few years before getting married. Their wedding ceremony took place in Athiya's father Suniel Shetty's Khandala mansion.

KL Rahul joined India A squad for second unofficial Test against Australia A ahead of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

KL Rahul was a late addition to India A's squad for the ongoing unofficial Test against Australia A in Melbourne. The right-handed batter had an underwhelming outing, registering scores of 4 and 10.

The seasoned campaigner is in the middle of a rough patch. He scored just 12 runs across two innings in the first Test of India's recently concluded three-match home series against New Zealand.

Rahul was left out of the playing XI for the remaining two matches. The 32-year-old will look to step up in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 as the Rohit Sharma-led side need to win the five-match series by a margin of 4-0 to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC 2023-25) on their own.

The batter has an underwhelming red-ball record in Australia. He has scored 185 runs from nine innings at an average of 20.77 in his five Test appearances on Australian soil.

The much anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series between India and Australia will kick off in Perth on November 22. India have had the upper hand over Australia in Test cricket in recent years, winning four Test series in a row.
