Pondicherry Women’s T20 Tournament 2024: Most Runs and Most Wickets after Princess Women vs Diamonds Women (Updated) ft. Yuvashri Karthikeyan

The Pondicherry Women’s T20 League 2024 kicked off on July 15 with the match between Angels Women and Queens Women. In the second match of the double-header at the Cricket Association Puducherry Ground 4, Princess Women went up against Diamonds Women.

Batting first, Queens Women managed just 100/8 from 20 overs, with opener Shivani Gupta herself accounting for 43 of those runs from 30 balls. The remainder of the Queens line-up crumbled in front of Angels Women bowlers Samruddhi Rawool (3/23), Rohini Mane (2/17) and Abirame Ramamurthy R (1/24).

Despite the early dismissal of opening batter Dhanushree Sivaraman to Sonal Patil, Angels’ Esha Subhash Mavi compiled a fluent 53* off 56 balls to steer her team to a nine-wicket win in 17 overs.

In the afternoon game, Princess Women captain and opening batter Yuvashri Karthikeyan batted throughout the innings after winning the toss and opting to put runs upfront. Facing 66 deliveries in the innings, Karthikeyan smacked 12 of them for boundaries and two of them for sixes during her unbeaten 86-run knock. Her opening partner Anjana B scored a near run-a-ball 44 during their 115-run stand before Princess Women reached 150/1 from 20 overs.

Chasing 151, Diamonds opener Reena Thirugnanam S and middle-order batters Maithreyee S, Priyanka Kaushal and Jyoti Yadav all made valuable contributions with the bat. However, their collective efforts were tendered fruitless by Yuvashri Karthikeyan (3/27) and Batul Pereira (2/25), who helped Princess Women secure a two-run win in a last-over thriller.

Princess Women captain Yuvashri Karthikeyan finds herself at the top of the run-scoring ladder after Day 1 of the 2024 Pondicherry Women’s T20 League. With 86 runs to her credit, she leads second-placed Esha Subhash Mavi by 33 runs and third-placed Anjana B by 42 runs.

Shivani Gupta and Mani Shailaja listed 43 and 32 runs respectively to round up the top five batters of the season so far. Reena Thirugnanam S (26 runs), Jyoti Yadav (22 runs), Maithreyee S (20 runs), Maya Sonawane (19 runs) and Priyanka Kaushal (18 runs) occupy the bottom half of the top 10 batting charts.

Only eight bowlers took at least a wicket on Day 1 of the 2024 Pondicherry Women’s T20 League. Samruddhi Rawool and Yuvashri Karthikeyan claimed three wickets each to take the top two slots on the highest wicket-takers list. Rohini Mane and Batul Pereira struck twice in their respective spells to be placed at number two and three.

Amruta Satsangi Saran, Sonal Patil, Abirame Ramamurthy R, and Maya Sonawane also collected a wicket to round up the list.
