[Watch] Australia all-rounder Michael Neser takes a sharp diving catch in BBL

Michael Neser took a sharp diving catch during the ongoing 2023-24 Big Bash League (BBL) game between Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat on Saturday, January 13.

Neser's on-field brilliance helped the Heat send back Cooper Conolly for a knock of 35 runs off 25 balls, which included one maximum and three boundaries.

The dismissal took place during the 16th over of the Scorchers’ innings. Xavier Barlett bowled a short delivery that angled into Conolly.

The left-handed batter tried to pull the delivery but was cramped for room and hit it into the sky over mid-on. Neser ran back from mid-on towards long-on and dived to complete a superb catch. With the wicket, the Heat reduced Scorchers to 111/6 in 16 overs before Nick Hobson’s cameo.

Michael Neser bags two wickets as Brisbane Heat restrict Perth Scorchers to 158 in BBL

A clinical bowling performance from Michael Neser helped Brisbane Heat restrict Perth Scorchers to 158/6 in their allotted 20 overs.

Neser finished with figures of 2/21 in his three overs, with prized scalps of skipper Aaron Hardie and opener Sam Whiteman. Meanwhile, Xavier Barlett, Spencer Johnson, Paul Walter, and Matthew Kuhnemann bagged one wicket apiece.

On the other hand, Nick Hobson starred with the bat for Scorchers, scoring a quickfire 48 off 30 deliveries with the help of four sixes and two boundaries. Laurie Evans also chipped in with 26 off 22, comprising four boundaries.

In response, Brisbane Heat were 37/0 after five overs, with Josh Brown and Jimmy Pierson at the crease, at the time of writing.

Table toppers Brisbane Heat have already qualified for the knockout stage of the BBL with seven wins in nine games. Meanwhile, Perth Scorchers need a win to book their place in the final four. They are placed third in the points table with five wins in eight games.
