England fast bowler Nat Sciver-Brunt was left surprised as the bails didn't dislodge despite the ball hitting the stumps with considerable force during the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 fixture against Scotland on Sunday at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The English players were left stunned and some were even seen smiling.

The incident occurred in the 19th over of the innings as Sciver-Brunt returned for her final over, having registered impressive figures of 3-0-11-1 until then. The first four deliveries went for three runs.

Right-handed batter Katherine Fraser swung her bat against a slower fullish-length fifth delivery but missed it completely. The ball hit the leg-stump and the bails lit up for a moment, but stayed intact surprisingly. Here's how the incident transpired:

Moreover, the ball also went to the fence and the umpire ruled it byes. The 32-year-old eventually finished with figures of 4-0-20-1, dismissing Saskia Horley for 13 off 23. Scotland struggled batting first, with captain Kathryn Bryce top-scoreing with 33 off 28 balls. They were restricted to a mere 109/6 in 20 overs. Sophie Ecclestone was the pick of the bowlers for England with a haul of 4-0-13-12

In reply , Maia Bouchier and Danni Wyatt-Hodge gave England a breezy start in pursuit of a modest 110. Bouchier had notably slammed three consecutive boundaries off Rachel Slater in the opening over to collect 12 runs.

England also reached their team 50 only in the fifth over, with Bouchier completing her half-century in 30 deliveries. Wyatt-Hodge got to her fifty off 26 balls as Scotland royally messed up a run-out chance in the 10th over. Bouchier finished off the game on the last delivery of the same over with a boundary.

Heather Knight and Co. will next face the West Indies in their final group game on Tuesday, October 15, in Dubai.
