Indian opener Prithvi Shaw shared a picture on Instagram Stories with his Northamptonshire teammate Yuzvendra Chahal, praising the spinner for his exceptional performance in his debut game in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Northamptonshire faced Kent in the Royal London One-Day Cup on Wednesday, August 14, at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, England. Kent won the toss and chose to bat first, but they didn't get off to an ideal start as they lost four wickets for just 15 runs. Yuzvendra Chahal, playing his first game of the season, was brilliant in the middle overs, as Kent got bundled for 82 in 35.1 overs.

Chahal completed his quota of 10 overs, in which he took five wickets while conceding only 14 runs. The Indian leg spinner also bowled five maiden overs as he demolished the Kent batting lineup.

Following the game, Indian opener and teammate Prithvi Shaw commended leg-spinner Chahal on Instagram for an excellent effort. Posting a photo of the two of them together, he wrote:

The Indian leg-spinner Chahal was part of the 2024 T20 World Cup squad that made history by defeating South Africa in the final to lift their second T20 World Cup title in Barbados. However, the 34-year-old didn’t get a game and had to watch the proceedings from the dugout.

Meanwhile, he was ignored for the T20I series against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. Chahal is still the leading wicket-taker for Men in Blue in the shortest format of the game with 96 scalps. He has also represented that nation in 72 ODIs, picking up 121 wickets with two fifers to his name.
