A war of words emerged between Pakistan Cricket Board chief Najam Sethi and former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad over the latter’s resignation from the post of PCB’s Director General.

Miandad had criticized Sethi on a number of issues such as the sacking of around 150 employees, appointment of team officials, etc. Miandad was of the belief that the board had sacked only lower grade employees in order to keep the financial health of the board intact.

“This is not true there are only 25 per cent lower grade employees in the Board. Miandad himself was costing the board around Rs 15 million a year to the board,” Sethi reacted.

“We have tried to utilise the money we paid to him by appointing former players as coaches who will now make positive contributions in the national cricket academy and in domestic cricket,” he added.

Reports claim that Miandad has gone on to criticize the PCB chief for appointing Waqar Younis and Moin Khan for two years each.

“They don’t have the mandate to take long term decisions so how can they do this. In the end they will go and these poor players will be running around courts to settle cases,” Miandad stated.

“Waqar will be the strategic driving force in the team and Moin’s main role is chief selector. I am confident that when they work together every player in the team will get a clear message what is expected of them and what they can’t do,” Sethi’s answer was reported to Duniya TV channel on Tuesday.

The former captain also admitted that he is aware of the secrets of the PCB and he would reveal them in due course of time. Miandad stated that Sethi had no understanding of the game.
