Post retirement, Rahul Dravid slams century for his club

There’s no stopping ‘The Wall’

Rahul Dravid may have retired from competitive cricket, but he hasn’t stopped scoring runs.

Dravid recently scored a century, playing for his club – Bangalore United Cricket Club (BUCC) – in Bangalore this weekend.

In the two-day game between BUCC and Friends Union Cricket Club (FUCC) in the Karnataka State Cricket Association’s (KSCA) Group I Division II, Dravid smashed 113 runs for his team on the 2nd day, earning them a first-innings lead and three points.

The match was played on 19th and 20th October at the HAL ground in Bangalore. On the first day too, Dravid was present on the field, positioned on his usual position on the field in the slips.

When his team batted second in the match, he came in to bat at the number 5 position, instead of his usual place at number 3.

Dravid’s last competitive game was in the CLT20 final for Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians where he scored 1.

‘The Wall’ has turned out to play for BUCC earlier too. In June, he scored 69 in a 91-run win against Standard Cricket Club in Bangalore.

Dravid may continue to make more appearances for his club in the future, as even after 16 years of international cricket, the hunger for runs is still intact in the 40-year-old.
