New Delhi, Feb 15 (IANS) President Pranab Mukherjee tweeted his congratulations to the Indian cricket team for their victory over Pakistan in a World Cup pool B match in Adelaide.

India once again came out on top in the high-octane clash to defeat Pakistan in their World Cup opener at the picturesque Adelaide Oval. A special century by vice-captain Virat Kohli (107) guided India to 300/7 which Pakistan failed to chase down, being bowled out for 224 in 47 overs.

“Congratulations Indian Team on victory in ICC World Cup’s first match; wish you continued success in coming matches,” the president wrote on his Twitter account.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted his congratulations to the Indian cricket team for its victory over Pakistan.

"Congrats Team India. Well played. We are all very proud of you," the prime minister wrote on his Twitter handle @narendramodi.

Just a few days back, Modi had send a personalised tweet to every member of the Indian squad at the World Cup, wishing them luck for the biggest cricketing event in the world.
