Karnataka and Haryana both recorded victories on a day that saw reigning champions Mumbai being asked to follow-on for the first time in five seasons. Indian internationals and those who are looking to get into the squad, also had a good day.
Irfan Pathan missed out on a century as Baroda came close to taking the first innings lead despite conceded 481 but fell short in the end before Uttar Pradesh’s openers ended the day without any further loss and took Suresh Raina’s side to the final day with a lead of 140 with all 10 wickets in hand.
Earlier in the day, Baroda captain Irfan Pathan scored 81 before he was dismissed by Praveen Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav added two more wickets as Baroda were bowled out for 458. After that, UP’s openers both scored fifties and helped them finish the day on 117/0.

Jaydev Unadkat’s run-a-ball 80 and 149 from opener KM Parmar helped Saurashtra recover from their first innings collapse and set Delhi a target of 276 for victory on day three of their clash at Vadodara. Chasing a tricky target, Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan and Gautam Gambhir both failed yet again as an excellent spell from Shaurya kept them in the hunt. Delhi, however, still have their leading run-scorer in the tournament, Rishabh Pant, unbeaten on 14 at the end of the day, with Gambhir’s side still needing 174 runs to win.

In response to Punjab’s 468, reigning Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai could only manage 185 and were made to follow-on for the first time in five seasons, with the last two times coming against Saurashtra. Manpreet Singh was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets as Punjab’s push for a victory continued. In the second innings, Shreyas Iyer redeemed himself with a fifty and the reigning champions ended the day on 94/2, still 189 runs behind Punjab's first innings tally.

After scoring a fifty with the bat, Karnataka captain Vinay Kumar picked up the opening wicket and another batting collapse from Maharashtra handed Karnataka a straightforward target which they reached with 10 wickets in hand. After Karnataka took a 182-run lead, they were bowled out for 345.
In reply, none of the batsmen apart from KM Jadhav performed as Maharashtra were bowled out for 218 with David Mathias, who came in for Manish Pandey picking up three wickets. Needing a paltry target to win, Karnataka’s openers got there in 10 overs with all their wickets intact.

After captain Abhinav Mukund set the platform for his side to take a lead in the first innings over Gujarat at the KSCA Stadium in Belgaum, Kaushik Gandhi’s unbeaten 150 helped Tamil Nadu take the lead and book their place in the quarter-finals of this year’s Ranji Trophy. Tamil Nadu's batsmen seemed content with a draw and first innings lead that would take them and their opponents through and they got there and ended the third day on 397/4.
