Shreyas Santosh Iyer is an Indian cricketer who was born on 6th December 1994 in the institutional hub of Indian cricket, Mumbai.
He represents India at T20 internationals and ODI matches as a right-handed batsman and right-arm off break bowler.
Iyer helped his college team lift some trophies in his early days. 'Shreyas Iyer Documentary – A Father's Dream' is a short-film which was directed by cricket writer Aayush Puthran, describing Iyer’s junior and age-group cricket journey.
In 2014, Iyer represented Trent Bridge Cricket Team and in February 2015, Iyer was signed by the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League 2015 for Rss. 2.6 crores becoming the highest earning uncapped player in the tournament.
Iyer played his first T20 international match for India against New Zealand on 1 November 2017, but unfortunately he didn't get the opportunity to showcase his batting skills.
However, he got the opportunity to bat the next month in his ODI debut against Sri Lanka where he managed to score 9 runs.
Rise to Glory
He represented Mumbai cricket team in domestic cricket and appeared for 45 matches scoring 3988 runs at an average of 54.63 and also took 2 wickets for his side.
Due to his amazing performance in domestic cricket, he was signed by Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League 2015.
After scoring 439 runs in the IPL, Iyer was the talk of the town, earning himself the Emerging Player Award and showcasing his aggressive style of play and knocking on the selectors’ doors for an India call-up.
After becoming the highest earning uncapped player in the tournament, Iyer manage to scored 439 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of 128.36 and an average of 33.76, making him the 9th most consistent player and Emerging Player of IPL season 8.
He is retained by Delhi Daredevils for whooping Rs. 7 crores for the upcoming 2018 IPL. He also played for the Indian Under 19 cricket team at the ICC 2014 Under-19 World cup.
