Cameron Donald Green is considered a prodigious all-rounder and has been touted as one of the next big things in Australian cricket. His solidity in the lower-middle order, provisional breakthroughs with the ball, and agile fielding has earned him a permanent spot in the Australian Test setup and he is looking to replicate the same form in white-ball cricket as well. Green is one of the tallest cricketers to have played the game and he stands at around 6 feet 6 inches (1.98 meters tall).

Green’s three-dimensional ability has garnered him many accolades from the cricketing world and his off-field battle with an irreversible chronic kidney disease since his childhood has not deterred the lofty all-rounder’s dream of achieving big in cricket.

Cameron Green Career

Cameron Green has had a stellar start to his career and is a bright prospect for the future of Australian and world cricket.

Cameron Green Domestic Career

Cameron Green made his first-class debut for Western Australia and took a five-wicket haul on debut against Tasmania in February 2017. Green came into the domestic setup as a bowling all-rounder, but his batting impressed everyone. However, frequent stress-facture injuries ruled him out of a few matches but he came back strongly by scoring his maiden first-class century against Queensland at the Gabba in 2019. His consistent performances in the domestic circuit earned him a national call-up to play India in a bilateral ODI and T20I series.

Cameron Green IPL Career

Cameron Green made headlines when he became the second-most expensive player in the 2023 IPL auction when the Mumbai Indians bagged him for a whopping INR 17.5 crores. He made his IPL debut against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru but failed to make a mark in that game. Green had a below-par season with the ball, picking up just 6 wickets at an economy of 9.50 but had a good season with the bat, scoring 452 runs at a strike rate of 160.28, including an unbeaten century against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in a run chase.

Ahead of IPL 2024, Green was traded to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru from Mumbai Indians for a massive sum of INR 17.5 crores.

Cameron Green Test Career

Of all the three formats in the game, Cameron Green has excelled in the game's longer format with his three-dimensional ability. Thanks to his towering persona, he can bat deep, bowl with efficient bouncers, and pull off catches out of nowhere in the gully position.

Green made his Test debut against India in the infamous Adelaide Test in December 2020 of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21, which bundled out the visitors with the lowest score in Indian history (36) in the second innings. Green had a decent start to his career and scored an impressive 84 in the third innings of the Test in that series, but went wicketless. He secured his very first Test wicket against England in the first Test of The Ashes at the Gabba.

Green took his maiden five-wicket haul against the touring Proteas in the Boxing Day Test in 2022. He scored his maiden Test century (114) against hosts India in Ahmedabad in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. He was part of the playing XI that won the World Test Championship Final 2023 against India at The Oval. Post David Warner’s retirement in early 2024, Green has been promoted to bat at No.4 in Tests to accommodate the team combination.

Green was inducted into the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup held in Australia in 2022 and has been shortlisted for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 as well.
