Ravi Shastri compares Virat Kohli with two legends

Indian coach Ravi Shastri has never shied away to lend out the appreciation where its due. He always backed Kohli as one of the greatest ever to play international cricket. Virat Kohli's performances over the years reflect the same, and most of us tend to agree with Shastri's words regarding Kohli.

The former Indian player compared Kohli with two cricketing legends in his recent interview with Cricbuzz, and here is what he said :

" He is as dominant as Sir Vivian Richards. The closest I have seen to the great man. Virat is in your face, he wants to dominate and has a work ethic like no one else. Whether it comes to discipline, training, sacrifice or self-denial, it is unbelievable. I think India is lucky to have a leader of that sort. He reminds me of Imran Khan in many ways."

As a batsman with an attitude, he certainly reminds us of the great Sir Viv Richards. On the other hand, Imran Khan was an inspiring Pakistani captain who led his side to World Cup glory. Shastri, as a leader, compared Kohli with the great Imran Khan.

The Delhi based cricketer would reach such heights as a leader if he manages to win the 2019 World cup. India also seems like one of the favourites to win the World Cup.

The Indian coach was impressed with Kohli's performance in England too.

" England was icing on the cake. Here's a guy who has got 140 runs in 10 innings (2014) and then gets 590 runs with two masters of bowling in James Anderson and Stuart Broad. "

However, Shastri feels that Kohli still has room to improve upon his leadership skills.

" As far as I am concerned, tactically, there is still room for plenty of improvement as captain. He has gotten better and better, and better, and I thought in the Australian Test series, tactically he outsmarted Australia."

Ravi Shastri also went on to name Kuldeep Yadav as their number one spinner in overseas Tests.
