Ravindra Jadeja says he told Matthew Wade he would catch him for dinner after his side lost the match

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has revealed that he told Australian wicket-keeper Matthew Wade that he would meet him for dinner after his team lose the fourth Test of the ongoing series.

“ As you know it so do I, what happens when something like this happens in a match. I was telling him we'll catch up later for dinner after you lose the match,” Jadeja said in the post-match presentation, generating a lot of laughs among the media contingent present.

When asked about his bowling Jadeja expressed happiness over his performance in Test cricket and

“ I am happy that I am doing well in Tests. Till now, I have played many ODIs. Now I have these many Tests this season. I have done well as well. There is a self-satisfaction as well. I consider myself suitable for both formats. There is a different confidence building inside me that I can play for a long time. As far as my bowling is concerned, this shoulder is in auto mode now, things are happening on its own,” he said.

During the morning session on Day 3 of the Dharamshala Test, there was a war of words involving the Saurashtra cricketer and Wade, who was later joined by his skipper Steve Smith, who referred to the all-rounder’s poor overseas record as a player. The umpire at the striker’s end – Ian Gould- intervened to ensure that play resumed in the middle.

It wasn’t the first time that Jadeja and Wade had been in the middle of a controversy. On Day 2 as well, Wade seemed to have told something to Jadeja and the left-hander replied by smashing the following delivery for a six.

In what proved to be an eventful day of action at the HPCA Stadium, the hosts added 84 runs before being dismissed for 332 on the stroke of lunch with Jadeja top-scoring with 63 runs and putting on a critical stand of 96 runs for the seventh wicket with wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha.

The bowlers then raised their game to dismiss the Australians for 137 with Jadeja picking up 3 wickets in an 18-over spell, conceding 24 runs. His spin partner- Ravichandran Ashwin- complemented him by taking 3 wickets as did Umesh Yadav, who showed further improvement with the ball.

At the end of the fourth day’s play, India found themselves at 19 for no loss, requiring 87 more runs to clinch the Border-Gavaskar series.
