Re-Modelling the Vijay Hazare Cup

I have carried out an in-depth research on how to increase viewership of Indian domestic cricket and also popularize it in India.

The reasons why I have chosen to carry out this study are:

1. I believe that viewers undermine the importance of domestic cricket2. There isn’t sufficient sponsorship for domestic cricket. It is satisfactory but there is lot more potential and greater scope.3. The viewership for domestic cricket is very poor; agreed that not all games are televised, but still I believe that there is greater untapped potential.

From my preliminary readings/findings and initial research, I have found experts of the game saying that an overhaul and revamp are required to make a difference in Indian domestic cricket.

PROPOSITION:1. Implementing the split innings concept (4 innings of 25 overs each) in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.2. Re-modelling the Vijay Hazare Cup to make the competition very exciting and create a renewed interest in Indian domestic cricket.3. Reason for re-structuring the Vijay Hazare Cup: Playing relevant cricket; cricket that matters and making every game count.

Currently, in a Vijay Hazare tournament, 69 games are played in a span of 12 days. Our proposal addresses this problem of excessive/irrelevant cricket being played.
