Indian ODI opener Rohit Sharma chose to go paddleboarding in Port of Spain after yet another day was washed out in the final Test between India and West Indies. The rain Gods have been severe and we have hardly got any play in the Test so far but that didn’t deter Rohit Sharma from enjoying his time in the Caribbean shores. Sharma posted a picture on Facebook with a caption, “Thought I’d mix up my workout and try my hand at paddleboarding”. Surely, the swashbuckling batsman has found a unique way to workout.
Rohit Sharma was omitted from the first two Tests but eventually got his opportunity in the 3rd Test in place of Cheteshwar Pujara. Sharma failed to impress in the first innings as his concern with deliveries outside the off stump continued and was caught behind for 9. He performed better in the 2nd innings with a quickfire 41 as India needed to score quick runs. Sharma is a part of the playing XI in the final Test too, as skipper Virat Kohli chose to go with an extra batsman.

At this moment, when no play has been possible, it seems Rohit Sharma is the one who is making most of the cloudy weather in the Caribbean.
India desperately need to win the final Test against West Indies to retain their No.1 position but with rain playing spoilsport on each day of the final Test, it is likely that arch rivals Pakistan will leapfrog India to the top of the ladder. Pakistan had a very good Test series in England levelling the series 2-2 and it will be the first time since gaining their Test status Pakistan will secure the numero uno status.
Rohit Sharma has been a prolific run scorer in the shorter versions of the game but hasn’t yet replicated it in the longest format. He is the only batsman in the world to score two ODI double centuries and also holds the record for the highest individual score in ODIs.

After scoring the twin centuries in his first two Tests against the West Indies, Sharma had a lean patch playing outside the subcontinent and failed to make a notable contribution in Tests. Even in India he was unable to replicate his heroics from ODIs and failed to impress and eventually, he was dropped from the team.
