Sachin Tendulkar Plans to set up Cricket Theme Park, Mellows down to use of Hawk-Eye

Sachin Tendulkar is reported to be involved in an ambitious project of developing a Cricket Theme park in all major cities of India. The project likely to be funded by venture capitalist comes after the Little Maestro is said to have softened his stance on the use of Hawk-Eye to judge LBW in test Cricket.

The theme park planned by Sachin is expected use the Hawk-Eye ball tracking technology where cricket lovers of the country will get a virtual reality opportunity to bowl at the likes of Sehwag and the Master Blaster himself.

Tendulkar, who was initially against the use of Hawk-Eye to judge LBW, was convinced by the inventor Paul Hawkins of the technology’s advantages when the two met before the Lord’s Test and the inventor ended Sachin’s doubts by explaining how it works automatically and not manually.

This softening of stance could also have other implications, most notably the chance to coerce the BCCI into agreeing to use the technology.

With Sachin convinced about the technology, Hawkins hopes that the most successful cricketer in the world can convince the BCCI of its merits. The BCCI are not in approval of the use of Hawk-Eye to judge LBWs because they feel it is not 100 percent fool proof and expensive to install the technology.

Hawkins said: “Once we had set the record straight he left saying he would tell the BCCI and recommend Hawk-Eye was used. I don’t think it will take long for the BCCI to act on advice from Tendulkar.”

Hawk-Eye managing director Steve Carter said: “I would love the Indians to embrace the technology but I don’t think the two things are inter-related.”
