Bangladesh v Zimbabwe 2014: Shakib Al Hasan stars in big win for hosts, achieves record feat

Bangladesh secured a comfortable 162-run victory against Zimbabwe in the second Test of the three-match Test series, at Khulna, Bangladesh, to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Shakib Al Hasan starred for the hosts with both bat and ball and, in the process, became the third cricketer after Imran Khan and Ian Botham to score a 100 and pick up 10 wickets in a single Test match.

The 27-year-old all-rounder scored 137 in the first innings and followed it up with five-wicket hauls in both the innings to finish with match figures of 10 for 124, helping the Tigers seal the encounter.

Legendary Pakistan all-rounder Imran recorded this feat in 1983 against India at Faisalabad, where he scored a 121-ball 117 and then picked up 6 wickets in the India’s first innings and 5 in the second to finish with figures of 11 for 180.

England all-time great Botham was the first cricketer to score a 100 and pick up 10 wickets in a single Test match. He achieved this feat against India, where he first rescued his side from a precarious position of 57 for 5 by scoring 114 off 144 balls and then picked up 12 wickets in the Golden Jubilee Test at Bombay in 1980.

Both teams now head to Chittagong for the third Test, starting on November 12.
