South Africa vs India, 2018: India's predicted XI to take on South Africa in the 4th ODI

Australia v India - Game 3

After taking an unassailable 3-0 lead in the 6 match ODI series, the Indian cricket team now travel to Johannesburg to look to make it 4-0 and win the series.

However, they will have their task cut out with AB de Villiers making a return to the South African side, which could turn their fortunes around.

Virat Kohli and his men have been unstoppable in the series so far and will look to put up a similar performance in the 4th ODI as they did in the first 3 ODIs.

Let's take a look at the predicted XI:

Openers:

Rohit Sharma

The 30-year-old has been in poor form since the beginning of the tour and has not had anything to show for, so far.

He got off to a decent start in the first two ODIs but was unable to convert those starts into a big score. He looked completely out of sorts in the previous ODI as he was dismissed for a duck to Kagiso Rabada in the first over of the game.

He will look to put his poor form behind him and help India put the series to bed in the 4th ODI.

Shikhar Dhawan

Australia v India - Game 5

Despite having quite an inconsistent career with the Indian cricket team, Shikhar Dhawan has always performed whenever it has mattered the most.

He has had a great series so far with the bat and has looked extremely confident against the South African bowling attack.

His dismissal in the first ODI was quite unfortunate, but he made up with consecutive half-centuries in the 2nd and 3rd ODI. He will look to better his performance in the 4th ODI and get to the century mark.

Middle-order:

Virat Kohli

With his performance in the first three ODIs, the Indian captain has once again proved as to why he is arguably the best ODI batsman in the world right now.

He seems to be getting better with each passing series and the ease by which he is scoring his centuries, he looks destined to cross Sachin Tendulkar's tally of 49 ODI centuries very soon.

He will look to continue his fine run of form in the 4th ODI and help India achieve their first ever ODI series victory in South Africa.

Ajinkya Rahane

England v India: Carlton Mid ODI Tri Series - Game 6

After being left out of the squad in 2 out of the 3 Tests, Rahane proved a point with his gutsy 79 run knock in the first ODI.

Unfortunately, he wasn't able to do much in the 3rd ODI as he me was dismissed while looking to go for a big shot.

He will look to make the most of his selection in the final three ODIs and cement his place as India's no. 4 for the future.

MS Dhoni

England v India - Royal London One-Day Series 2014

The former Indian captain has not had much to do in the series so far. He did have a chance to make a mark for himself in the previous ODI, but ended up disappointing after scoring just 10 runs.

He has been a livewire in the field, constantly guiding the bowlers and the fielders.

With 3 ODIs remaining, Dhoni will look to get some runs under his belt and not put a doubt in the selectors' mind.

Manish Pandey

Australia v India - Game 5

Despite getting only chance to make a mark for himself, Kedar Jadhav will most likely have to give way for Manish Pandey in the 4th ODI.

Jadhav also picked up a small injury while fielding in the 3rd ODI and hence will probably have to sit out.

Manish Pandey, on the other hand, has not been in great form either and will look to make the most of his chance and cement his place in the side for the future.

Hardik Pandya

India v Pakistan - ICC Champions Trophy Final

After his splendid knock in the first Test, the 24-year-old all-rounder has not made much of an impact.

He has been shifted around in the batting order over the past few matches and has not been able to make a mark for himself.

He has not been amongst the wickets as well and will be hoping to turn things around with just 3 ODIs remaining.

Spinners:

Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal

The main reason for India's success in the ODI series so far has been the performance of both the wrist spinners. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have been too good for the South African batsmen and have taken the game away from them in all 3 ODIs.

They have picked up 21 wickets amongst themselves, with Kuldeep picking up 10, and Chahal picking up 11.

They have picked up wickets at regular intervals and also kept South Africa's run-rate in check.

With their performances over the past year or so, they have surely cemented their place in the side for the 2019 World Cup in England.

Fast bowlers:

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

India v United Arab Emirates - 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup

India's best bowler in the Test series has not made much of an impact in the ODI series so far. Luckily enough for him, the wrist spinners have done the job and he has not had to worry too much.

He has picked up only two wickets so far and has been quite expensive as well.

He will look to get back to his dangerous best in the final three ODIs and help India achieve a series victory.

Jasprit Bumrah

Australia v India - Game 1

The 24-year-old pacer has performed decently in the ODI series so far but will look to better his performance in the final three games.

He has picked up four wickets in the three matches he has played. What he has done well is that he has always given India the perfect start with a quick wicket or two.

While Kuldeep and Chahal have been wreaking havoc, Bumrah, too, will look to do the same in the upcoming matches.
