Courtesy of their win in the first T20I against Australia, India overtook Pakistan into third place on the list of most wins in international cricket. Australia top the charts with England in second place on the all-time list of most wins in cricket across all three formats.

In the list of most wins in international cricket, Australia occupy top spot with 980 wins while England are in second place with 745 wins. India are in third place with 666 wins, just one ahead of Pakistan who have 665. West Indies complete the top five with 592 victories across all three formats.

Victory in the Ranchi T20I also meant that India joined an elite list of countries who have won 50 T20Is. They are only the fourth country after Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka to have won 50 T20Is. While they are a long way away from Pakistan and the top spot in the list of most T20I wins, they inched ahead of their arch-rivals in the overall list.

In T20Is, Pakistan, who are the only country to have played over 100 T20Is, unsurprisingly lead the pack. Their tally of 69 wins is 12 more than South Africa who are in second place with 57 wins. Sri Lanka are third with 51 and India in fourth place, eager to get into third before the conclusion of the ongoing T20I series against Australia.

In ODIs, it is the defending World champions who lead the pack. Australia are the only team to have recorded over 500 wins in the format and sit pretty at the top of the list with 555 wins. India are in second place with 474 wins, closely followed by Pakistan who are in third with 464. The top three are the only three countries to have recorded over 400 wins in the format, even though the top eight teams have played well in excess of 500 ODIs.

In Tests, it is the two countries with whom the sport began that dominate the proceedings. Australia and England have played a greater number of Tests than any other country, so it is no surprise to see that they occupy the top two spots in terms of most Test wins. The two countries have in excess of 350 wins apiece while no country has more than 200. Australia lead the way here as well, with 378 wins while England take second spot with 356. West Indies are in third with 167 wins while India are in fifth place with 142 wins from 515 Tests.

Here is the complete list of countries with most wins in international cricket.
