This year the league will start from 3 April to 26 May. The opening ceremony will be in Kolkata at Salt Lake Stadium on 2 April 2013. In the opening ceremony the Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and international rapper Pitbull will perform on the stage. Shah Rukh Khan is also the owner of a team in IPL. His team was the winner of the IPL season 5 last year after beating the Chennai super kings.

The nine teams which are participating in the league will fight against each other for the title. All the 9 teams are ready to show their magic. This league has given platform to many youngsters to show their skills at a higher level. Many players got the chance in their national team by performing will in IPL.

The title sponsor of IPL 6 is pepsico before that it was DLF since 2007. The pepsico have paid rupees 398 crores for the title sponsor for 5 years till 2017 earlier DLF had got that title sponsor for rupees 250 crores. The pepsico said that they believe they would profit 4 to 5 times than they have paid.

There are only few days for the start of IPL but there came a issue that has disturbed the preparation the teams. The IPL governing council decided to exclude the Sri Lankan players from the matches that would be played in Chennai.

The decision was taken because of the security reasons in Chennai. The governing council in a statement said that the security of all involved in the IPL are most important for the BCCI. The Sri Lankan players as well as umpires and officials will not be allowed to participate in any of the IPL matches

In a letter to the prime minister of India, Mrs Jayalalithaa demanded the centre to ask the BCCI to not allow any Sri Lankan players, umpires and officials to take action in any matches in Chennai else she would not allow any IPL matches in her state.

The nine franchises of the teams accept the decision but they feel that would not be good for those teams who have some important Sri Lankan players in their side. The knock out matches are also in Chennai so that will definitely harm the teams who have Sri Lankan players. Besides all this everyone is excited to play IPL 6.
