The Women Behind Indian Cricket Team

Deviating a bit from the game of cricket and cricketers, lets discuss about those people who keep the cricketers going. Yes, you guessed it right: I am talking about the Indian Cricketer’s WAGs. For those who doesn’t know what WAGs means ( :P), it stands for Wives and Girlfriends. As the famous saying goes, “Behind every successful man, there is a woman”, lets just go over list of the Indian Cricketers WAGs, shall we? Remember to vote for your favorite :)

1. Anjali Tendulkar, wife of Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar.

A paediatrician by profession, Anjali met Sachin at the Airport while he was returning from a tour in 1990. They courted for 5 years, before tying the knot on 24th May, 1995. They have been married for 15 years now and are blessed with a son and a daughter. Anjali has been a very supportive wife, standing thick and thin by the little master in every ups and downs he face in his career. To support a man who has been carrying the burden of Indian cricket for over 2 decades is not an easy task. she gave up her medical profession in order to look after her family. Despite knowing nothing about cricket when she met the Master Blaster, she was quick to learn things up, realising how important it was for her to know about the game. Her support towards her husband is to the extent that she doesn’t move, answer calls or have food when Sachin is at the crease. According to her, it is never easy to be Sachin’s wife but her family, including her children, have learnt to deal with it. A strong women, she has been the greatest support Sachin have in his life. And yes, she is 6 years older to him.

2. Aarti Sehwag, wife of Virender Sehwag

It was a surprise when the aggressive batsman Sehwag, married the sweet and silent Aarti Ahlawat in 2004. However Aarti has been a major influence in the swashbuckling openers life and have a son together. Aarti is often seen at many of the matches involving India and is an integral part of the WAG’s team. A graduate , she has been a major support for Viru.

3. Sakshi Dhoni, wife of Mahendra Singh Dhoni

Sakshi Rawat, the first lady of Indian Cricket, was a hotel management student working as a trainee at The Taj Bengal, where Dhoni was staying with the team. The two met and hit it off instantly. They got engaged in 2010 followed by a hushed up marriage ceremony a day later. The hotelier has been a refreshing addition to the Indian Cricketers WAGs and has brought in glamor to the team. She has quickly become a media favorite with her chirpy nature and good look. She has been seen supporting and cheering MSD a number of times in the stadiums.

4. Geeta Basra, on off girlfriend of Bhajji

On again. Off again. How many times have we heard this in the media? Of course, all these might be rumors, as some people say, that doesn’t quite explain why these two have been photographed when on secret meetings. Bhajji has always said they are just “good friends”. A Bollywood aspirant, lets see what happens to this relationship.

5. Aanchal Kumar, a sexy addition in Yuvraj Singh‘s list.

Okay, this is one guy in the Indian team, who has had his fair share of ladies. First Kim Sharma, and then rumors about Deepika Padukone and Grace, now reportedly Aanchal Kumar, a young and beautiful model with Bollywood aspirations. Moreover one wonders how long Yuvi will stick to her with Amisha Patel already being reported as another addition in the World Cup’s Man of the Series list.
