After a brilliant spell of bowling against that accounted for the wickets of Colin Munro and Martin Guptill, Mohammed Shami created history during the 1st ODI of the New Zealand-India series. He has become the fastest Indian to reach the landmark of 100 wickets in ODI cricket.

Shami reached the milestone in his 55th innings and has seemingly booked his position in the World Cup 2019 squad. Although his feat is one to savour for a very long time, there a few individuals within the Indian team itself who could break his record.

With India's bowling looking better than ever, the country is blessed with a phenomenal arsenal of bowlers. Walking along the same lines, here are three bowlers who could break Shami's record of being the fastest Indian to take 100 wickets in ODI cricket.

#3 Yuzvendra Chahal

The leg-spinner recently picked by a six-wicket haul at the MCG against a formidable Australian side. Yuzvendra Chahal has been brilliant since his introduction to the shorter formats.

Chahal, along with Kuldeep Yadav, has wrecked opposition in the middle-orders and made a name in doing so. They are by far the most dreaded spin duo at the moment due to their ability to flight the ball and dare the batsmen to go after them.

Chahal has picked 64 wickets in 36 matches at an average of 23.69. With India slated to play a good chunk of matches at home, he has a chance to progress towards the milestone of 100 ODI wickets.

#2 Jasprit Bumrah

Perhaps the best fast bowler India have in their midst since Zaheer Khan, Jasprit Bumrah has been terrific since his debut at Sydney in 2016. He has grown leaps and bounds and has even established himself as a reliable performer in Test cricket.

Although Bumrah has been doing great in Tests of late, it is the shorter formats where he is the most dangerous in. In possession of one of the most devastating yorkers in world cricket, the right-armer has 78 wickets in 44 matches at an average of 21.01 while conceding at a rate of 4.45 per over.

The numbers are just mind-boggling and he could even break Shami's record. With the World Cup around the corner, we might even see the feat broken this year itself. Bumrah requires 22 wickets in 12 matches to reach the landmark.

#1 Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav has been unplayable at times in the ODI format. His record speaks for himself and is in the contention of breaking the record for fastest ever to 100 wickets, let alone the Indian record.

The chinaman exponent has picked 73 wickets to his name in 36 matches which is a far better record than the aforementioned duo of Bumrah and Chahal. Although Kuldeep has his task cut out with him needing 27 wickets off his next 8 matches to just equal Rashid Khan's record, it is almost clear that he will hold the mantle of being the fastest Indian to achieve 100 wickets in ODI cricket.

It's a blessing for India to have four bowlers who are capable of yielding wickets at will but Kuldeep is certainly the best of the lot.
