The third test between India and Australia is currently underway with the Indian batsmen piling up a mountain of runs on what is being hailed as a lifeless MCG wicket. Virat Kohli has won the toss and elected to bat first in the Boxing Day Test Match.

India got off to a solid start as both the new openers, Hanuma Vihari and Mayank Agarwal saw off the new ball and the latter even going on score a brilliant half century on debut. Cheteshwar Pujara too played a fantastic innings which showed the Saurashtra-born batsman's patience and defensive skills. He scored 106 runs off 319 balls and helped India reach a big total in the first innings.

Virat Kohli played 204 balls in his knock of 82 runs while Ajinkya Rahane added 34 runs from 76 balls to the Indian total. Even Rishabh Pant played a slower innings this time and was supported by Rohit Sharma on the other end.

Rohit had notched up his half century and was seemingly looking to register his first test century in Australia. However, Virat Kohli decided to declare the Indian innings when Sharma was on 63*.

While team India was on their way to a big score, the run rate of the innings was way too low. Only one six was struck in the entire innings and that too on Day 1 by debutant Mayank Agarwal.

India had taken nearly 170 overs for their 443 runs and so the skipper called Rohit Sharma back when Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood.

This did not go down well with the Twitteratis as they displayed their disappointment over Kohli's decision as this denied Rohit an opportunity to score his first century in Australia.

Here are some of the best reactions from the intriguing passage of play at the second day at the MCG.
