In the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Shahbaz Nadeem took an incredible eight for 10 against Rajasthan to register the best figures in List A cricket. He took all eight wickets in eight overs and was on the verge of taking all ten wickets. His eight-for included a hat-trick as well. He took the wickets of Mahipal Lomror, Chetan Bisht on the last two balls of his sixth over and then came back to claim Tajinder Singh lbw on the first ball of his seventh.

He matched the record of Rahul Sanghvi (eight for 15) but gave five fewer runs. Chaminda Vaas holds the record for the best figures in ODI cricket and third-best in List A- eight for 19 against Zimbabwe in 2001-02.

Nadeem made his debut for India in the last Test against South Africa at his ground in Ranchi. One of the veteran spinners in the domestic circuit, Nadeem has achieved almost everything a left-arm spinner can in a first-class career. In his 111 matches at the first-class level, he has taken 428 wickets at an average of only 28.42. In the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy season, he was the highest wicket-taker but wasn’t even considered for the Rest of India team in the Irani Trophy.
